Proxibid Auctions: Timed and Live, Extended Bidding and Fees
Proxibid is an Omaha-based marketplace where auction companies sell equipment, industrial machinery, vehicles, real estate, art, antiques and collectibles in timed online auctions and live webcast auctions. Most timed auctions extend when a late bid arrives, equal max bids go to the earlier one, and each seller sets its own buyer's premium; some auctions add an internet buyer's premium on top. GhostNode searches Proxibid for your keywords; you bid there yourself.
Proxibid (proxibid.com) is a marketplace for auction companies, based in Omaha, Nebraska, and part of Auction Technology Group since 2020. Sellers list heavy equipment, industrial machinery, vehicles, real estate, fine art, antiques and collectibles, in two formats: timed online auctions and live webcast auctions.
How Proxibid auctions work
- Two formats. A timed auction takes bids until each lot's closing time; a live webcast auction is called by an auctioneer and online bidders join in real time. For a live sale you can leave an absentee maximum in advance.
- Extended bidding. Most timed auctions extend when a bid arrives near the end; the length depends on the auction (soft close). Lots normally close in a staggered sequence.
- Max bids and ties. Proxibid bids for you up to your maximum; when two maximums are equal, the earlier one wins.
- Increments are set by the seller for each auction.
What a Proxibid win costs
As published in October 2026:
| Cost | On Proxibid |
|---|---|
| Buyer's premium | Set by each seller and paid to the seller; it is taxed |
| Internet buyer's premium | Some auctions add one for online bids; check the terms |
| Payment, shipping and removal | Set by each seller in the auction's terms |
When Proxibid lots end
GhostNode's sample of Proxibid is small (1,006 lots between September 13, 2026 and October 10, 2026), and unlike the consumer marketplaces its lots closed mostly in the morning and early afternoon: the busiest hour was 9–10 am Central. Proxibid's sellers are professional auction companies across several time zones, so check each auction's own schedule.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a timed and a live auction on Proxibid?
A timed auction takes online bids until each lot's closing time, usually with extended bidding. A live (webcast) auction is called by an auctioneer in real time, and online bidders join as lots are sold. See timed auction.
What is an internet buyer's premium?
An extra percentage that some auctions add for bids placed online, on top of the auction's own buyer's premium. Check the auction's terms for whether one applies and how much it is.
Can GhostNode bid on Proxibid for me?
Not yet. GhostNode searches Proxibid for your keywords and tracks lots alongside your other marketplaces; you bid on Proxibid yourself.

Timed auction
An auction that runs online for a set period, with each lot closing at a scheduled time, instead of being called live by an auctioneer.
Read the definition →Absentee bid
A maximum bid you leave with an auction before a live sale; the auction bids for you up to it while the lot is called.
Read the definition →Buyer's premium
A percentage the auction adds to the winning bid and charges the buyer; it is set in each auction's terms and is often taxed too.
Read the definition →Soft close
An auction rule that extends a lot's end time when a bid arrives in its final minutes, so the lot closes only after a quiet period with no new bids.
