K-BID Auctions: The 3-Minute Rule, Fees and Pickup

Updated · 3 min read · by the GhostNode team · data as of

Short answer

K-BID is a Minnesota-based online auction marketplace where more than 220 independent affiliates sell in the Midwest and beyond. Every bid is a private max bid, any bid in a lot's last 3 minutes resets its clock to 3 minutes, and the standard buyer's premium is 15% (capped at $1,500 per item) with sales tax on the bid plus premium. Items are normally paid for and picked up during a set removal window, though many affiliates ship. GhostNode searches K-BID for your keywords; you bid on K-BID yourself.

K-BID (k-bid.com) is an online auction marketplace run by K-BID Online, Inc. of Medina, Minnesota, since 2002. Fees and rules below are as published in October 2026. More than 220 independent affiliates sell through it, mainly in the Midwest: estates, farm and shop equipment, vehicles, tools, household goods and business assets. K-BID reports more than 500,000 registered buyers and 6.5 million items sold.

How K-BID auctions close

  • Every bid is a max bid. Enter the most you will pay; K-BID bids for you up to it and keeps your maximum private (proxy bidding).
  • The 3-minute rule. A bid in a lot's final 3 minutes resets that lot's clock to 3 minutes. The lot closes only after 3 minutes pass with no new bid (soft close).
  • Lots close in a staggered sequence, each extending on its own.
  • Bids are binding. K-BID's terms say bids are never retracted.

When K-BID lots end

In GhostNode's data (a small sample of 1,019 K-BID lots between September 13, 2026 and October 10, 2026), K-BID lots closed almost entirely in the evening: the busiest hour was 7–8 pm Central with 52.2% of closes, and the busiest day was Thursday.

Frequently asked questions

How does K-BID's 3-minute rule work?

If a bid is placed in a lot's final 3 minutes, that lot's clock resets to 3 minutes. It closes only after 3 full minutes pass with no new bid. Lots start closing at staggered times, and each extends on its own.

What is K-BID's buyer's premium?

The standard buyer's premium is 15%, capped at $1,500 per item, unless the auction's own terms say otherwise. Sales tax is charged on the winning bid plus the premium.

What happens if I miss the K-BID removal time?

K-BID's terms say items not paid for and removed during the scheduled removal window are lost. Reinstatement after a no-show carries a 20% penalty plus $25.

Can GhostNode bid on K-BID for me?

Not yet. GhostNode searches K-BID for your keywords and tracks lots in Listings and your Watch list; you place bids on K-BID yourself.
