How to Search Every Online Auction Site at Once
No marketplace searches the others, so there are three ways to cover several auction sites: set up each site's own saved-search emails (free, but one inbox per site and often once a day), use an aggregator that covers your niche (for example government-surplus alert tools), or use a multi-marketplace tool. GhostNode's Live search queries eBay, ShopGoodwill, HiBid, AllSurplus, K-BID and BestBid at the same time, and its keywords run around the clock on the marketplaces you switch on (up to 8).
The lot you want might be on eBay, on ShopGoodwill, in a HiBid catalog from an auction house you have never heard of, or in a K-BID estate sale. Each marketplace searches only itself. Here are the ways to cover several at once, from free and manual to fully automatic.
Option 1: each marketplace's own saved searches
Every major auction marketplace can email you new matches for a saved search:
| Marketplace | Saved-search feature | How often |
|---|---|---|
| eBay | Saved searches with email alerts | When new items are listed |
| ShopGoodwill | Personal Shopper | Emails new matches for your terms |
| HiBid | Saved searches | A daily email digest |
| K-BID | Lot Alerts (up to 10 searches) | At most one email a day |
| AllSurplus | Saved searches | New items and lots about to close |
| Proxibid | Saved searches | Email alerts |
Pros: free, official, no extra account. Cons: one setup and one inbox per marketplace, different schedules (a daily digest can arrive after a lot is gone), and no single list to compare prices, fees and closing times.
Option 2: an aggregator for your niche
Some tools combine many sources of one kind:
- Government surplus: tools such as BidProwl and GovAuctions.app search dozens of government sources (GovDeals, GSA and others) and send alerts. They do not bid.
- Thrift and retail marketplaces: Deal Notifier covers ShopGoodwill alongside eBay and retail marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace and Mercari.
- Local auction houses: directories such as AuctionZip list upcoming auctions by location.
These work well when your niche matches their sources. None of them covers eBay, ShopGoodwill and HiBid together, and none bids for you.
Option 3: one tool across marketplaces
GhostNode was built for this problem:
- Live search queries eBay, ShopGoodwill, HiBid, AllSurplus, K-BID and BestBid at the same moment and streams every result into one list as each marketplace answers, with filters for price, closing time and bids (how Live search works).
- Keywords run around the clock on the marketplaces you switch on, out of 8 (eBay, ShopGoodwill, HiBid, BestBid, AllSurplus, K-BID, Proxibid and mac.bid), and collect every match into Listings with its price, closing time and location, plus whether it ships or is pickup-only where the marketplace says so.
- The Watch list keeps lots starred in Live search up to date, on all six Live search marketplaces, faster as they near the close.
- Bidding: on eBay, ShopGoodwill, HiBid and BestBid, GhostNode can also bid for you with your own account, up to the maximum you set.
The free Scout plan includes 4 keywords on 4 marketplaces at a time; Sniper and Ghost can switch on all 8 (pricing).
Tips for searching across marketplaces
- Search the same thing three ways. Model numbers ("RTX 4090"), plain words ("graphics card") and common misspellings each find different lots, especially on ShopGoodwill and HiBid, where listings are written fast.
- Search descriptions where you can. Vague titles hide specific items; ShopGoodwill can search descriptions, and GhostNode can include them.
- Compare landed cost, not price. The same item on eBay (no buyer's premium) and on HiBid (premium set by the auction house, often pickup-only) can differ a lot once fees and travel are added (landed cost).
- Mind the clock. ShopGoodwill, K-BID and mac.bid close most lots within a few evening hours in their own time zone, while eBay and others spread across the day (when auctions end).
Frequently asked questions
Is there one website that searches all auction sites?
Not one that covers everything. Tools cover groups of marketplaces: some cover government surplus sources, some cover retail marketplaces like Facebook Marketplace, and GhostNode covers eBay, ShopGoodwill, HiBid, BestBid, AllSurplus, K-BID, Proxibid and mac.bid.
Can I get alerts for new listings on several auction sites?
Each marketplace has its own saved-search emails: eBay's saved searches, ShopGoodwill's Personal Shopper, HiBid's daily digest, K-BID's Lot Alerts (up to 10 searches, one email a day), AllSurplus and Proxibid saved searches. Setting them up everywhere gives you one inbox per site, on each site's schedule.
How is Live search different from saved searches?
A saved search tells you later; Live search answers now. It queries six marketplaces the moment you search and shows every result in one list, with filters for price, closing time and bids.
